JOSEPH BEUYS INNER AND OUTER SPACE Interactive galleries and community engagement initiative The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Curated by Fayanne Hayes The inner space interactive galleries were developed in conjunction with the Joseph Beuys Multiples exhibition and provided a place for visitors to make meaningful connections to the exhibition. Initially, a diverse, fifteen member community team was formed in the planning stages providing valuable input that influenced the development of the interactive experiences. Experiences included a floor-to-ceiling blackboard room. The walls were filled with questions relating to Joseph Beuys’ life and work and a generous amount of chalk was supplied for visitors to write or draw their responses. Leaders from community organizations, college faculty, area artists, students, and community members created their own “multiples” to express ideas relating to environment, art and energy. Their multiples were displayed and available for the visitor to take home.
