IMAGINARY CITIES An Interactive Exhibition, The John and Mable Ringling Museum of Art Curated by Fayanne Hayes The Imaginary Cities Interactive Exhbition was developed in conjunction with The Man With The Wooden Arm Exhibition featuring sculptural Works by Leslie Lerner. The interactive installation served to enhance the visitors' appreciation and understanding of the main exhibition. Shadows of architectural elements were cast on the main walls of the education space to create a dream like, fantasy atmosphere. A large mound of architectural building blocks (painted to match the color used by the artist in his artwork) was placed in the center of the room. Surrounding wall text directed visitors to create miniature imaginary buildings and cities of their own design. Black velvet cushions were scattered around the gallery floor providing comfortable places for visitors to sit. Materials were provided for visitors to write descriptions and stories about their imaginary building creations. Their stories were compiled and placed in a book entitled "The Imaginary City that Was" and displayed in the gallery. Photo by Gaby Ray
